Our teams' unwavering commitment to limiting our environmental impact
Our BSKP and BHKP pulp, produced at our Saint-Gaudens site, is now approved for the manufacture of paper bearing the European Ecolabel. This recognition, achieved thanks to months of work by our teams, reflects our ongoing commitment to the circular economy and sustainability.
Concrete actions to improve our environmental footprint
To reduce our emissions into the air and water, our Saint-Gaudens plant has implemented several major actions in recent years. These include optimizing manufacturing processes across the entire production line, particularly in the areas of boilers and bleaching. In addition, the modernization of our facilities has also reduced organized atmospheric emissions (AOITS).
These efforts have enabled us to achieve emission levels that are compatible with the requirements of the European Ecolabel, one of the most stringent environmental standards in the world.
Well-deserved recognition
In 2022, our mixed hardwood pulp (BHKP) was approved for use in the production of eco-labeled paper. Last November, it was the turn of our softwood pulp (BSKP) to be approved. These certifications are a testament to the combined efforts of our production, quality, and environmental teams. We would like to thank all the employees involved in this collective success.
Our BSKP and BHKP pulps are now included in the list of pulps evaluated for use in the manufacture of European Ecolabel-certified paper, in particular for graphic and tissue paper pulps and tissue products. This list was established in accordance with European Commission Decision (EU) 2019/70 of January 11, 2019. You can view it here.
The European Ecolabel, a guarantee of sustainability and performance
Created in 1992, the European Ecolabel is the European Union's official voluntary label for environmental excellence. Recognized throughout Europe, it guarantees that the products and services that display it meet strict ecological criteria throughout their life cycle: limited emissions, responsible use of resources, and minimization of harmful substances.
Certified products meet demanding environmental standards without compromising on performance, and the criteria take into account the entire life cycle of the products (from manufacture to end of life). This verification is carried out by third-party experts who validate compliance with the standards defined by the European Union.
A greener future
Choosing products certified by the European Ecolabel means making a sustainable choice that respects the environment and the health of end consumers. It also means supporting companies committed to a responsible approach.
With the listing of its bleached pulp, the Fibre Excellence Group confirms its determination to integrate environmentally friendly solutions into the heart of its business model. By choosing our products, you are supporting a more sustainable industry that prioritizes long-term performance. You are helping to build a future where quality and sustainability go hand in hand.
